Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel, even headaches and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain. Thankfully braces can correct a wide range of alignment problems—including crowding, extra spacing, underbites, and deep bites.
The new techniques and appliances we use greatly reduce discomfort levels, decrease frequency of visits, shorten treatment time and may allow you to choose from several options. Your options may include metal (stainless steel) braces, translucent (ceramic) braces, or clear aligners (Invisalign).
Metal braces are the most common type. They are made of high-grade stainless steel. Today’s metal braces are smaller, more comfortable, and more attractive than you might expect! We also have a rainbow of colors you can put on your braces to make them unique to your own personality.
Ceramic braces are worn on the front of the teeth just like traditional stainless steel braces, but unlike metal braces they blend with the color of the teeth for a much less noticeable appearance. They are most popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appeal.
Invisalign straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners. It’s virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth. Invisalign is very popular with adult patients. Many teens are great candidates for Invisalign as well.
Orthodontic treatment, at any stage of life, can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self esteem. Properly aligned teeth are also healthier, easier to clean, and therefore more likely to last throughout a patient’s lifetime.
